Pricing for Custom Quilts and Photo Transfer Services
Pricing a commission quilt or photo transfers depends on a number of variables. Please feel free to contact me for a No Cost No Obligation consultation and price estimate for your project.
Once the final design has been approved and/or the number of photos and amount of necessary editing has been determined, I will write up a contract stating the final, agreed upon price and delivery information.
As a general estimate, I charge by the square inch for quilt construction, which covers the cost of designing the quilt, materials and labor. I charge a separate amount for the photos, depending on size and quality. Shipping costs will be determined at the time of shipment and will be added to the final amount due.

Quilt Construction:

$.14 (14 cents) to $.17 (17 cents) per square inch for simple quilt construction, no fancy quilting, no embellishments.

$.18 (18 cents) to $.28 (28 cents) per square inch for more complex quilts and/or a lot of embellishments (mostly done by hand) or if the quilt will use difficult fabrics such as satin, silk, taffeta and the like. I do not work with velvet.

$6.50 per photo 4" x 6" or smaller, including minor editing (sizing, color correction, etc.) and preparation for sewing (peeling off the backing, trimming to 1/4" seam allowance, rinsing off excess ink, etc.)
- $7.50 per 5" x 7", including minor editing and preparation for sewing (same as above.)

$11.00 per photo larger than 5" x 7" up to 8" x 10" maximum, including minor editing anad preparation for sewing (same as above)

Add $5.00 to any photograph, regardless of size, for major editing (fixing tears, scratches, stains, etc.) (Again, I reserve the right not to accept photos of very poor quality.)
- There will be a $1.00 charge per photo for scanning original (non-digital) prints.
- There will be a 10% discount for any photo transfer order which does not require preparation for sewing. (Customer does all the prep work)
- Digital photos may be sent via e-mail or on disk. They should be at the highest possible resolution. Prints from digital photos cannot be used.
Methods of Payment:
After discussing your needs and agreeing to move forward with the commission, I will require a minimum $50.00 non-refundable down payment (or 25% of estimated cost of your commission, whichever is larger) to cover partial cost of materials and my design time.
Once the final design has been agreed upon and a firm price established, I may require a second deposit, with the remaining balance to be paid before delivery of the quilt. A payment schedule can be arranged, if desired. Shipping and handling will be added to the final amount due.
